Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of e-MTB Ta and every bike rental you book through it. Please read them before making a reservation.
Effective date: 2026-10-19
This is a translation provided for convenience. If there is any inconsistency between this version and the Korean version, the Korean version prevails to the extent permitted by law.
1. Purpose
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities between e-MTB Ta (the "Company", "we", "us") and the users of the e-MTB Ta website and related services (the "Service").
2. Definitions
- "User" or "you" means any person who accesses the Service or makes a reservation through it, including riders registered under a reservation.
- "Branch" means a rental location operated by the Company or by a partner that provides bikes booked through the Service.
- "Reservation" means a confirmed booking of one or more bikes for a specific Branch and rental period.
- "Reservation Code" means the unique code issued to you when a Reservation is confirmed.
3. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms to reflect changes in law or in the Service. We will post the amended Terms on the Service with their effective date at least 7 days in advance, or at least 30 days in advance for changes that are unfavourable to you.
Reservations confirmed before an amendment takes effect remain governed by the Terms in force at the time of booking. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you may stop using the Service.
4. The Service
The Service lets you search bike availability, compare models and prices, and book rentals at Branches in several countries. It also provides destination information, suggested courses and GPX route files.
Bike models, photos and specifications are provided for reference. The Branch may supply an equivalent model of the same size and type if the pictured unit is unavailable.
5. Eligibility and Rider Requirements
- The person making a Reservation must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract.
- Riders under 18 may ride only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for them.
- Each rider must be in adequate physical condition, able to ride a bicycle safely, and comply with local rules on e-bike use, including any minimum age or licence requirements.
- The Branch may refuse to hand over a bike to a rider who appears unable to ride safely or who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
6. Making a Reservation
When you select bikes and dates, the bikes are held for you for 15 minutes while you complete payment. If payment is not completed within that time, the hold is released automatically.
A Reservation is confirmed only when payment has been approved and we have issued a Reservation Code. A confirmation email is sent to the email address you provide.
You are responsible for providing accurate booker and rider information (name, email, phone number, nationality and bike size). Keep your Reservation Code safe: anyone who has it together with your email address can view or cancel the Reservation.
7. Prices and Payment
Prices are shown per bike per day, together with any applicable group or multi-day discount. The final amount and currency are shown at checkout before you pay, and the amount calculated by our server at checkout is the amount charged.
Payments are processed by licensed payment service providers through the PortOne payment platform. We do not store your full card number or security code.
Your card issuer may charge foreign transaction or currency conversion fees. These fees are not charged by us and are not refundable by us.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
- You may cancel a Reservation free of charge on the Reservation Check page until 23:59 (Korea Standard Time, UTC+9) on the day before the rental start date. A full refund is issued to the original payment method.
- Cancellations after that deadline cannot be made online. Please contact the Branch or us; such cancellations, no-shows and early returns are generally not refundable unless the Branch agrees otherwise or the law requires a refund.
- Refunds are usually processed within 3–7 business days, but the time it takes to appear on your statement depends on your card issuer or payment provider.
- If we or the Branch cannot provide the reserved bikes (for example because of damage, theft, natural disaster or other events beyond our control), we will offer an equivalent alternative or a full refund.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund that you have under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.
9. Pickup, Use and Return
- At pickup, present your Reservation Code and a valid photo ID. The Branch may ask for a refundable security deposit and may have its own rental agreement, which you must follow.
- Inspect the bike with Branch staff before leaving and report any existing damage.
- Return the bike, battery, charger and accessories to the same Branch by the agreed time. Late returns may incur additional charges set by the Branch.
10. Rider Obligations and Safety
- Wear a helmet at all times and use appropriate protective gear.
- Obey local traffic laws, trail rules and access restrictions, and ride within your ability.
- Do not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Do not lend, sublet or modify the bike, or use it for racing, stunts or commercial purposes without permission.
- Check weather and trail conditions before riding and stop if conditions become unsafe.
11. Damage, Loss and Theft
You must report any accident, damage, loss or theft to the Branch immediately and, for theft or accidents involving others, to the local police.
You are responsible for damage to, or loss or theft of, the bike and accessories during the rental period beyond normal wear and tear, to the extent caused by your fault or negligence. Repair or replacement costs are assessed by the Branch based on reasonable actual costs.
12. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability
Cycling, and mountain biking in particular, involves inherent risks of injury. You participate voluntarily and are responsible for riding safely.
To the extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by your breach of these Terms, by events beyond our reasonable control, or by information provided by third parties.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
13. Courses, Routes and Third-Party Information
Course descriptions, distances, elevation data and GPX files are provided for reference only and may not reflect current conditions, closures or hazards. Always follow on-site signage and local guidance.
Text, images, routes and other content on the Service are protected by intellectual property rights. You may use them for your personal trip planning but may not copy, redistribute or use them commercially without our permission.
14. Prohibited Conduct
- Making reservations with false information or another person's payment details.
- Interfering with the Service, including automated scraping, excessive requests or attempts to bypass security.
- Using another person's Reservation Code to access or change their Reservation without authorisation.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute will be submitted to the court with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of Korea, with the Seoul Central District Court as the court of first instance where permitted.
If you are a consumer residing in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings in the courts there where the law allows.
